Elderly often encounter difficulty in rising themselves from or lowering themselves into a chair; annually 1200 independently living elderly in The Netherlands end up in hospital after a fall from a chair. In cases where no personal assistance is available, mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic sit/stand devices have been developed. Still elderly complain about difficulties standing up. Existing devices require a greater muscle force than any force rising from a normal chair, they throw the user forward, cause instability and are often big and heavy. The StanGo is
a portable sit to stand device, that assist the user during the whole movement in a radual way using spring energy. In cooperation with T.Mandersloot
